Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to listen to my stuff. I have uploaded this song before and a couple people have said that I need to work on mastering for this track. Well, I tried to experiment with iZotope Ozone and Alloy a little, and came out with this:

Remastered Version:

Anakratis - Oasys (Original Mix) by Anakratis

Mastered Version:

Oasys MSTR2 by Anakratis

Unmastered Version:

Oasys by Anakratis

Thanks again!

It seems like the bass sounds a little out of place. Maybe reverb it or find another sample. What sequencer do you use?

I like the ideas that you've got going on in that track but it sounds very squashed now, there's very little energy in it. This is possibly due to overcompressing the entire mx. Do you still have the unmastered version? I wouldn't mind hearing that too.

I mean, It really isn't bad at all now that I listen to it agian, haha... Those sweeps in there give it a lot of character. But lord may be right, if you used compressors maybe you took a little umph out of the leads, or maybe it is just a volume issue.. it's hard to tell. It is a very nice track though.

I can hear a really good track, but the levels or the compression are really off.

Maybe try taking a break from it, and come back with fresh ears. That should definitely help you hear what you need to correct.

This is a great track, but it lost all dynamics with over compression. I think you will get better results giving it a new mix, then a mastering review.

This is quite a busy track, try compressing things separately in stems... like the drums, bass, and synths separately.. do most of your dynamics there... then just leave a little bit for the main output, with a touch of eq, compression and limiting.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

@thebravo: I use Ableton Live 8. I have been told to use Logic, however I do not have an Apple Computer. Also, I heavily compressed the song due to problems with volume and clipping.

@tehlord: I do, the unmastered version can be played at top.

@parafrNalia: I agree...this is why I posted this topic ;)

@Supers: Thanks, I will try this in one of my several attempts in the next few days.

Also, if anyone wants a remix pack to try to remix this song themselves, I could possibly create one and post it on here.

Thanks!

Hi Anakratis,

This latest version of “Anakratis - Oasys (Original Mix)” on soundcloud site is actually really good, I like it. Sound very dynamic and has a lot of energy in it.

I purposely did not comment on your work before because believe it wasn’t mature enough. This time your sound is deeper and has a lot of frequency reach in it.

I think you are one of those “never give up” guys who is taking ours advise and work hard to achieve highest quality possible for your music.

For this I will give you +1 from me.

Keep this music rolling, man.
tehlord
I'd agree with TL on this. Musically you're pretty much spot on and I like it a lot. I think the issue is with the mixing rather than mastering though as the two versions don't really sound that different.

Are you high passing all the non kick/bass parts to start with? Sounds like you're running out of headroom really fast.

im not sure if i've commented on this in the past.
i dont know anything about mastering because i dont master, but that master2 version is super squashed, throw that out lol. I really like the unmastered version, got some good energy there. good luck with this one, youre pretty talented.

Alright, my next attempt at editing this song...check it out!

I removed the massive low end on the bass, and flattened it a little.
