How many tracks/plugins etc you can run in logic/cubase before your MBP dies/overloads?

I was unable to find a post with any details on the production limits of the 2.26, 2.53, 2.66, or 2.8 Macbook pros so here it is.

You see, when one goes on exchange to France the studio must come too - it's time to buy a premium aluminium sex box ladies and gentlemen!

Not sure how much of a performance increase the extra clock speeds and cache is going to give the 2.66/2.8 over the other chips... Naturally ill be upgrade the HD to a 7200RPM.

ATM I'm running logic 8 & omnisphere with a firebox and hoping to do the same in france.

So what's your experience and what shall it be?

I would like to know this as well. Solid-state worth the extra money?

I dont know, but the limitations when I had just a single core 2.8ghz P4, did not stop me from making music. Often i'd have to freeze about 40-60% of the project to let the essentials channels stream through for mixing and arrangement. And you can always bounce to audio when your happy with a track/channel.

That said a Q9550 should be more than enough to handle anything you throw at it. Even the line just below it should be good to handle a majority of projects.

Surely it depends entirely on which plugin/s you're using in a particular track. V-Station and a native Cubase reverb is not the same as running Synthsquad with a bit of TRacks compression with a bit of Redline Reverb over the top.
