New track - question for chillout aficionados

OK, so I apologize in advance that this track is not an EDM song, but I'm wondering what your thoughts are on our latest song as a chillout tune. To me, it has a summery chilled "beach" vibe similar to many of the tunes on the Blank & Jones "Relax" CDs (e.g., Friends, Driftin', Summer Breeze, etc.) and I'm just wondering if you guys think it would be worth sending in as a demo to such a label and, if so, which labels? Maybe an alternate mix would be better? Or, maybe I'm just hearing it from too close a perspective and it's just too poppy or whatever?

FWIW, here's a little history of the song. It was written and sang by my good friend Rachael Santos, whom I played in a band with a few years ago and is one of the most talented singers/songwriters I've ever been fortunate enough to work with. The song was actually recorded two years ago, but I got sidetracked and just got around to finishing it. I've got a couple more of her songs in the vault that I'm hoping to finish over the next few weeks as I continue my break from EDM music, but this is the only one that I think has some crossover potential. |

H Dave,
This is one of those songs I would love to chill out with. Smooth Jazz
site of this track is awesome, has all of needed/good attributes and
atmosphere.
What I would like to see (don't get me wrong, it is good as is) little
bit of reverb on your guitar.
This was a good decision to go beck to this song, please let me know
when will be release. I will buy it.
Big +1 from me Dave. |

This is good. It does sound "poppy," I don't know what an EDM-focused label would think.
I'd like to have the parts to this and try some kind of ambient mix. |

You know I love it Dave ;)
Listen to the reverb calling you. You can't fight it! |

This definitely reminds me of something from one of the Relax albums. I don't mean it sounds like a song already on the CD, but rather something that would fit perfectly on it.
It's a very nice track. Professional sounding, too! If you ever let people take a shot at remixing, then give me a shout :p |

Thanks a lot, guys! I wasn't sure how well this would be received here. I'm thinking that some congas might fit nicely and I may even try an alternate mix with slightly more electronic sounding drums/rhythms to give it a little IDM edge.
As far as remixes go, I'd have to get permission from Rachael first so hang tight - she can be hard to reach. ;)

There is a little bit of reverb on the guitars, but as you and tehlord mentioned, I'm going to try a few things. Personally, I like the guitars to sound up-front and somewhat dry and the intent was to make them sound like the guitarists are playing right next to you. But, a little more experimenting is probably in order! :toocool: |

I almost forgot about this track, oh yaaa, so chill and smooth, beautiful song Dave.
Did you record it in your studio???, including this lovely guitar??
Friday afternoon is a perfect time to go through that kind of chill-out therapy.
One more time - fantastic work man. |
