I know a guy who's selling two Genelec 8020a for 5000 NOK. That's roughly $890 US for a pair. They are one year old, only been used in studio and are in mint condition.
Cheapest price i could find new was about $1170 or something. Is that a good deal? I've never tried them* before, but I am in desperate need of some active monitors ASAP lol.
*Genelec's in general, not just these ones. |

| used gear is usually worth 50% or a little more. 700 - 800 i would think about it but to only save 300 when you have no idea how he treated them... |

as i said in OP, they are in MINT condition, and they have been used very carefully (as in not too loud volume etc) |

| if you personally know the person then yeah i would consdier second hand. Otherwise its to risky, I mean generally speaking most people tend to look after ther music gear, and even though they look nice on the outside cosmetically the internals could have been raped. |

i just know lol.
he sold a couple of krk's to a friend of mine, listed as mint, and they were in mint condition. and while i have never met the seller (i think) he is a well known producer/dj in the norwegian club scene, and i doubt he'd be selling faulty equipment and saying it was mint, especially seeing as I'd be picking them up at his place, thus knowing where he lives lol.
Anyhoo, they are mint. What i want to know really is, are these speakers any good? I mean, compared to new speakers i could get for 5000 NOK.
Prices in Norway are kinda high tho, and ordering from other countries is a no-no seeing as I'd be paying twice the price due to ing import taxes lol.
Just to show what prices are in Norway:
Alesis M1 Active 620 = 4290 /pair
Event TR8 8" = 6495 /pair
M-Audio BX8a Deluxe = 3595 /pair |

| you should listen to genelecs in the shop first, alot of people claim that the treble is harch and abit exhausting in lengthy sessions. also offer him 4000 instead (if u like the sound of them, u have to try that first). btw whos selling them? would like to know as im norwegian myself. |

The Gene's are good monitors but those are the babies of the range so don't expect huge bass response from them (it's still fine to work with though and their detail is excellent).
Ask him if they come with the isopod (stabilizers) - if not try to get him to chuck them in if he's of got them. They work really well and you'd want to have them so you have to factor that in to the cost in case you have to buy them somewhere. |
