OK totally random thread but maybe some of you guys will agree with me - does anyone get pissed off or just laugh when they see a DJ in the background of a music video pretending to do ?
It's kind of a question of "what else is the DJ/producer supposed to do?" I guess I would say either don't put them in the music video or have them do something else like produce in the studio and with ableton or something so it looks complicated lol.
Otherwise they are literally STANDING THERE just pretending to do something! Turning a few knobs... cueing up a track that's not going to come in because it's only ONE SONG... or maybe scratching in their headphones... and we know they're not changing the levels because the track sounds identical to the way it does on CD.
Just something that grinds my gears lol

Yes compared to stereotypical hip hop videos or trance videos where a dj is playing at a club while some hot girl looks for her lover this is a better, more creative video.

Btw The DJ in the Black eyed Peas group on the SNL video is adding in sound effects. It looks like he doing nothing, but he is adding sounds in here and there.
