Pretty stupid a court case needs to be wasted on this. I however depend on tips so I typically defend the service industry folks, but poor service is worth what it is.

If the pub is under-staffed and overly busy, the servers can't possibly be held responsible. If the poor staff is running around with their heads cut off trying to serve 8 tables etc. things are easily forgotten/put on the back burner. If the server had told them to go to hell, then I would understand.

The idea of tipping is ing ridiculous to begin with. Wait staff should not be relying on the tips from the customers to supplement their ty ass pay. The business should be covering those costs so that this type of garbage doesn't happen.

I worked in a pub around Christmas time a few years ago. We were so understaffed that I was responsible for 5 tables, and a reservation of about 40. Let me tell you, if I had been any one of those groups, I would have been pissed off with the ty service, but it wasn't my fault. There is only so many things I can do at once, and bringing the drinks out to a group of 40 was a tough enough job on its own.

If they decided not to tip based on the failure of the business to have enough staff, I don't make enough money to pay for my rent. How does that make any ing sense!? If the kitchen s up an order (which I have nothing to do with) and they decide not to tip, once again, there goes the money that pays my bills.

Serving staff get shat on all the time and often pay for the mistakes of the venue itself. To top it off, they don't get compensated properly at all, and the pressure is put on the customers to pretty much give the servers their wages. If the service sucks, it isn't necessarily a reflection on the server, it may be a lot of other reasons.

The tipping bull needs to stop. It is unfair to the employees and it is unfair to the customers.
