When I moved to the other side of the country last year, I sold everything I owned on Craigslist and had very little troubles.
The key is to have a ton of photos and reasonable prices. Detailed ads that explain the dimensions etc. are helpful, especially with big furniture seeing as not everyone has large enough apartments etc. to fit a huge couch or whatever.
It is often helpful to give a deadline like "MUST BE GONE BY _______" It puts pressure on the buyers to make a decision. You either buy it by this date, or you have lost your chance. The wishy washy buyers will often give up on it.
If you are selling your entire place, you could even advertise a house sale and just let people come to your place on the weekend and 'shop around'. It's a little creepier to do it that way but I have seen it work really well. We went to about 4 or 5 of those types of sales when we got here and they had pretty much cleaned up. |

I sell and buy a lot on Craigslist. Don't ask for too much for your stuff. Search for comparable items and price likewise, or lower. |

The key to selling stuff on craigslist is to try and make your ad stand out from the rest. Try adding something extra to the sale. Like a bag of chips & salsa or even a chia pet. Works every time. |
