Anyway, Masive Attack is a "trip-hop group" (whatever that genre means) which is vey heterogeneous in their/his releases. Gnerally speaking, the project stareted as a hip-hop/soul/r'n'b influenced trip-hop project with ambient passages etc. (blue line, protection) and progressively, as one moves closer to their/his later realeases, they/he have/has moved-on towards a more claustrophobic, dark-ambient and "goth" sound (Mezzanine, 100th Window). This probaly has something to do with the black guys leaving the project after the second and third releases leaving the white guy doing all the work :p (hey where is nefardec lol).
Anyway though, you can't judge such a legendary electronic band/project by means of their first release. And remember that is also a matter of taste and the threadstarter's could just suck |

hold up brethren. first of all, isnt blue lines considered their best album or most widely acclaimed album? maybe I do need to blast the album with big subwoofers and amplifiers but when I heard it on youtube, I thought the album was wack.
and dont get me started on mezzanine. that joint "teardrop" has to be the most boring track I ever heard. |

Well, it's a window into the kind of music he deems as worthy of attention, especially having gone through the trouble of making it his own avatar.
Anyway, Mezzanine and 100th Window are the goto Massive Attack albums. If you can't appreciate the depth in either, Massive Attack isn't for you. |
