what do you mean... like within the 'tech house' section there is a tribal sub-genre?? if so thats pretty cool!

off topic: I find I buy a lot of crappy tracks off beatport now. like I tend to download stuff and then I listen to it after and am like 'why did I buy this' and then never play it again. anyone else do this too?

ive been guilty of this too. the best way to prevent this is to take a day or two after you've filled your crate up and go back and relisten to all the tracks and see if youre still into them.

making sure you listen to the whole sample helps as well. sometimes you buy the track and when you get the mp3 you realize there's some parts of the song that ruin the the track.

Yeah i have started waiting a day or 2 before actually purchasing the songs. that does help a little!

Yeah whats with those songs with the really terrible breakdowns with ultra-corny vocals that just totally ruin the track?

Another trick is go to a few of the tracks you're into and search the label....could find alot of similar stuff that way.

That's just the nature of the beast unfortunetly, for every 10 tracks I buy I may actually like 3 or 4.....and only ever play 1 or 2.

It was the same thing with records. Until you get to actually hear the whole track, and usually only after several times, will you know how much you like it or not.

I've even found that some tracks that I didn't think were that good once I bought them, ended up being some of my favorite after I had heard them a few times.

Like i said, it's just the nature of the beast...

Yeah, I build up my crate all week and then go through it several times to try and pick out the just the one i want. Filtering it down and down until I get to 10 or 15.

You can do your own re-edits in a DAW (like Logic, Ableton, or Cubase) to take that crap out if you really like the track.

Yeah I've always wanted to learn how to do this... Although I bet I would spend a fair bit of time editing it only to listen to it a few times and get bored of it hahaha.

I use a similar tactic to Cam but over 2 weeks. Let the crate build and continuously go through it. I really like the Hold bin feature that they have cuz it allows me to throw tracks in there that I'm not quite ready to buy yet, but they tickle my interests.

I may not play a song I buy every single time...infact only about 20% if not less gets played on a regular basis but theres always a use for those sleeper tracks. You just never know when they'll fit.
