Hey guys and gals,
So my fiance and I are planning our wedding to be held in Toronto in 2011 which we are really excited about and we are currently looking at several venues as options but I wanted to know your thoughts as well to make sure we weren't missing out on the perfect place.
We are currently liking one king west and graydon hall the most of the ones we've seen, so they can be used as ball park guidelines.
Are there any other venues that any of you have been to where you have fallen in love with the charm or elegance of the location? Our requirements are that it must hold at least 150 people, be available for the ceremony and the reception and have close proximity to accommodations since we have several out of town guests coming (including ourselves!) Being in Toronto is key since we want to make it as convenient as possible for people who may be flying in from out of the country.
We are both going to be coming up to look at these places over the new years holidays so are trying to put our list together now.
Much thanks in advance.

Ps Hope to see a bunch of you again over new years!
Dave

it all depends on how much you would want to spend. for 150 and 10K you can kiss Graydon Hall and Old Mill and most places good bye. Now at around 12-13K you might pull off Old Mill, otherise only banquet halls. And only on Friday - its usually cheaper and the minimum spend is less. Minimum spend is a bitch btw. Graydon Hall was our favourite out of the gate but it has a minimum spend of 25K and thats before taxes. We ended up going with Eagle's Nest Golf Club. Out of the Banquest Halls that we have seen Le Jardin and La Primavera were te best and would be close to your budget.

This was one of our top choices if we stayed in Toronto for our wedding....

Sunnyside Pavillion. I got married there this summer. There are 2 option: upstairs or the courtyard.

Take a look at their website.

Graydon Hall is within our budget. It's $10,000 for an all day rental. (we are planning on early October)
Old mill seems like a wedding factory puppy mill and have ruled them out. we talked to them and they have crazy turnaround times for using the chapel and seems like we'd be bumping into other parties the whole time.

Even without the rental of Graydon, we are budgeting $25,000 on food and settings. Add Drinks and we are well within their $25k restriction. I only said the venue budget was 10k not the overall cost.

Thanks for the other recommendations, I'll check them out. :)

For that budget/dates I'd just go with Graydon Hall if the numbers are right. The place is very very good!
INTRANCE
I got married at the Old Mill Inn and it is beautiful, very elegant...looks like an old castle inside! You can do everything there and they have 2 options for acommodations...Old Mill which is available at a discount to you and the guests or Valhalla Inn which is close by and also offers a discount for Old Mill weddings. Both were great, our guests were very impressed. The place itself and all the rooms are so gorgeous we barely spent anything on decorations..seat covers and some flowers is all that was needed.

The Mill has large enough rooms for your party and the food was AMAZING! It's worth the $$.

Sorry if anyone has already mentioned this..

I was at a wedding at the old mill inn this past summer and it was a pretty sweet venue..I got married in the Dominican Republic but if I had the money and/or the desire to have such a wedding, I would have definitely wanted a venue like this...

The grounds and property are amazing... but I agree completly with your wedding factory comment. Went for a site there and it was horrible. The sales manager turned us off from hello. (There were also two other couples siting at the same time).

My sister got married at eagle's nest this past summer and it was gorgeous. Cocktails were served outside on a patio overlooking the grounds and I was immpressed by the food/service. It's a bit pricey but worth checking out in my opinion.

I thought it was 150, but my dad just said he thought 125. I'll ask my brother and get back to you.

Congrats Dave! I hope I get to see you when you're in town!! <3

So I just heard back from my brother. He said it holds 118 max. I was wrong :( He said that there's a restaurant linked to the venue however and that holds up to 400. But he thinks they have a $30,000 minimum budget. Looks like this won't work for you. Sorry!
