i woudn't really call 3 ms delay. At least not noticeable to the human ear. You shouldn't assume things without knowing the audio interface people are using.

i just recall from what i had. i tossed it. i actually dont know where to adjust midi delay. on my soundcard its no problem, the driver is great but the midikeyboard doesnt have any settings at all. im guessing it has like almost a 1/2 second delay (512ms maybe???).
RichieV
midi delay is insignificant. It is the audio buffer of your sound card which introduces latency. You probably didn't have the asio driver selected.

^^ what he said plus some DAW's have tools to help latency. I know Ableton has latency compensation.
RichieV
latency compensation does not reduce latency so I wouldn't use the word help.

it cant be only the audiodevice, because i can look at the fader on the screen moving very delayd after the fader on the midikeyboard. This is in reason and ableton btw. Hmm ill have to check this out some more, do i get double delay? like 512ms from the midikeyboard to the PC and then another 512 delay from the computer to the audio out?
RichieV
latency is not a midi issue. Your program is purposefully delaying the midi input because your audio latency is so high. This is what latency compensation does. Turn it off and it will be instant.

after a closer look my delay isnt 512ms, its 512samples lol, 11ms. and i cant find the button u talk about in Reason atleast. remember my midi (UC33e) doesnt have any interface on the computer. its not important though as im not using it much, but would like to understand where the delay is coming from.
RichieV
are you using any plugins that look ahead ie waves multiband limiter or z noise
palm
no no this is in Reason, no plugins or anything magic here. strange all of it.

RichieV
and reason is using the asio drivers ?
palm
not sure mac runs asio at all? its a Echo Audiofire device. I thought Mac was like Core Audio or something instead of Asio?
