"Atmospheric DnB"?
View this Thread in Original format

I have heard a bit of this genre on pandora and really enjoyed it, however don't have any of the track names.

Can anyone recommend good producers/labels putting out quality atmospheric DnB or as wikipedia calls it, intelligent dnb?

Thanks!

It's not really made anymore. It was massive around 1997 and LTJ Bukem and his Good Looking label were the main proponents. Shame really, as this is easily my favourite sub-genre of jungle. Check out the first Logical Progression compilation, one of the best mix CDs ever.

Some favourites:

Nostalgic

Nostalgic

rawbound
Photek - T-Raenon

Axis - Horizon (Not LTJ Bukem - Horizons)

LTJ Bukem - Watercolours

Aural Imbalance & David Holness - Euphonix

Aural Imbalance - Astral Forest
GrimReaper
Seba & Lotek - So Long

Apok - Noctis (Slowed Down Mix)

PFM - Danny's Song

Blame - Sphere (Seba Remix)
- cut from Blame's mix-CD "Two Revolutions"

Seba - Planetary Funk Alert

Erykah Badu - On & On (Blu Mar Ten Remix)
- edited version from a compilation "A Journey Into Drum'n'Bass vol. 2", single version is longer
- BMT did also a lovely bootleg remix of Erykah's "You Got Me"

Taucher - Outside World
- Taucher isn't known for d'n'b at all but this is an exception even if this doesn't have quite the sub bass d'n'b normally has

I checked on beatport and itunes, couldn't LTJ/Good looking records anywhere... Guess they don't want my money...

But I did find ALL of it from a less legitmate source ;)

Thanks for the recommendations!

As I said, this stuff is 10+ years old now, so most of it is out of print anyway and your money couldn't go to them. Bukem still has stuff in print which you can find on Amazon.

GrimReaper
What Sys Jackster said there.

Most of this older dnb stuff hasn't been put out as digital downloads and judging by what I've read here and there, probably never will. Bukem used to have a label shop where you could buy some selected downloads, CDs and vinyls from the Good Looking/Looking Good catalogue and back catalogue but it was put down a while back. So if you really want these in some properly legal format instead of shady mp3s, you can get secondhand copies of compilations and albums featuring these from amazon or discogs.com for example.
