Mixing with vinyl after a looooooong break

Dug out some of the old vinyl last night for a mix.
Whilst I enjoyed it immensely mixing with tunes I aint heard in years, one thing was definitely clear........
Mixing with tracks from the early 90's on vinyl is way harder than mixing current tunes on cdj's, but is far more enjoyable and challenging.
This is not a thread whereby I hark on about "the good old days" but rather a reflection on how times have changed so much.
Everything about it involved more of a thought process than digital DJ'ing and I got a warm nostalgic feeling from actually reading the grooves on the vinyl instead of staring at numbers.
Eq'ing also requires a lot more focus, but like I said - I ing loved every minute of it and don't care about vinyl being a thing of the past.
Going to be spinning the 1210's a lot more frequently again.
Anyone else feeling the love for the wheels of steel after a sabbatical? |

| sometimes i dj at a friends house as he has kept his 1210s, and i have like 50 of my old vinyls over there which im never selling. its great, but luckely its not fun enough to convince me starting again. i just bought a mixer again though but im planning to use it with ableton only. |

| Yep. I've been really getting back into mixing vinyl lately. Over the last couple of years I've really only been mixing with digital files with traktor and ableton, but you don't get that authentic DJ feel you get when you play with wax. Think I'm gonna start buying a lot more wax again. |

| I learned how to mix on CDJs. I recently got 1200s and a few disco and house records to start my vinyl collection off. I'm finding that It's a little more tricky than just cueing and looping on the CDJs... |

Started on Ableton, learned some basic beatmatching on cdjs, and now I'm using vinyl, Ableton whenever I feel like fooling around digitally.
Vinyl is really my favorite at this point in time, I just find it much more engrossing. I dunno. |

| Started on CDJs years ago, and definitely prefer them. I seem to be one of the few in Seattle that spin solely on CDs, so rather than constantly being asked to bring my own pair, I just said it and have started playing out on vinyl. I can certainly see why so many people are attached to it. |

| I started on vinyl. At the moment I only have a single deck in my room which I use purely for listening purposes. I'm seriously flirting with the idea of dropping some more cash to get another one. CDJs are more practical and better for gigs, but for pure pleasure purposes I far prefer vinyl. |

| cant beat the vinyl feel. i always had technics and have neve rgot rid of them. i got rid of my cdj's cus it was gettin boring. the vinyl is alot better fun as i have traktor and use the timecoded vinyls so i can still use my midi controllers n all and play on the vinyls. cdj;s are just boring i tink. |

I have to say Ive never lost the love, my turntables have remained as important part of my setup as anything else |
