my soundcard has LR 1/4 jack outputs which I have split into two to run a headphone amp on.
but im gettin a humming in the speakers which does stop if you kick the wires in the right place, clearly an earth problem but how would you troubleshoot that?
Do i remove earth wires or something? someone suggested that.

It's possible they are too close to power wires, sometimes when those touch the RCA cables that happens.
Also you may want to try a ground loop isolator. |

| I wouldn't recommend a ground loop isolator, that damages the audio signal. Are you working on a laptop? Often disconnecting the ground of the laptop fixes the problem without any further issues. |
