Mixer Light

you can't simply hook that kind of light to any mixer, you need one that has a powered light socket that's exactly meant for that purpose. the pioneer djms up to the 600 don't have one, and i can't imagine that the 800 was upgraded to have one either.
you'll usually find the right connectors on bigger mixers or lighting consoles. haven't seen any dj mixers so far that would feature a light socket... |

+1 on everything you said.
I've only ever seen them on larger mixing desks as well.
You should have bought a battery powered one or one that plugs into a usb port.
Here's an article that they just did on djtechtools.com about a flashlight they highly recommend.

Here's an image just to show you the connector yours would have needed. Usually located at the top right or left of the mixer.

Won't be able to attach that - should have gone for light glasses (Orbital style)
