Ladies and gentlemen,

I present to you my first solid attempt to make a trance tune, 'U Are the Music'. Vocals by Microsoft Anna :)

please download before you read on. (or you'll get swine flu)

..
I've kinda gotten to the stage with this track where I don't feel like ever touching (as in editing) it again, heh. I've spent too many hours adjusting the layers, changing out stuff and then more adjusting, and I can't think of any way to improve it any further. Soeh, it's time to start from scratch.

For my next track, i'd like some pointers on where in 'U Are the Music' i did good and where i did bad, what i could work on, what really needs work, and ofc what I should keep cause it's just that awesome.
Please comment on all from drums to synths, to themes/melodies and how they match or dismatch.

Looking forward to hear from the pros ;)

Starts off ok, but the percs sound a little thin so maybe layering them can give some thickness. The reverb on the lead could be a little too low, cutoff some of the lows and bring up the highs, could use some EQing also. The offbeat bass should go out IMO. You did really great if this was your first time at a trance tune. Keep it up

hey, thanks for your comment :) about the offbeat bass, i think it matches the tune nicely (but that's prolly depending on taste nevertheless), but i'll go for something different next time most likely, heh.
as for the percussions i agree, i need to work more on them.
and EQ'ing is really the part i'm worst at, but i guess it's just about training and training.
This is not really my first track, but it's been a while since i've 'finished' a track. So this is one of my first trance tunes, yeh.

..And uhm, thanks for moving my thread :)

It's true, the offbeat bass is probably the best fit for this track. I like it, the intro is nice, nice synths, good melody, the vocals creates good atmosphere. I enjoy this track although it's not superb productionwise. Work on upgrading the sound, and drums could be of better quality, more punch.

hey, thanks for the comment. Glad to hear you enjoyed it :) ..So i guess i need to spend more time on the production, which is really the part i'm having the most trouble with :x but i've gotten to this stage, so i'll keep on trying :p
