Twilo was by far the best club New york ever had. Twilo on Friday Nights for Sasha & Digweed every month and PvD every other Month was so much fun to look forward too. Danny Howells at Arc/Vinyl were great parties too! Those were the days!
I used to tell my factory friends back then they were missing out, they caught on to the good music years later lol sucks for them. |
No, it wasn't, it wasn't the best club NY ever had by far. Twilo wasn't even a good club. That is a tall order to even put Twilo in the same class as 54, Danceteria, Paradise Garage, USA, Roxy, Palladium, Tunnel and for a bit of time, Limelight. Those are the best clubs ever in New York and really, they were all the best at one time(except for Tunnel and Limelight). , Shelter/Vinyl was far better than Twilo ever was. |

i wouldnt really know about how twilo was as a club, but alot of people said it was an amazing club
the system, lighting, dancefloor etc etc but your entitled to your opinion...to me personally i hated limelight, it was just too narrow of a club i could never really get into it
roxy is another great room tho i had many good nights in that club |

you! You know I'm not Silverbull! I'm giving you Larry David, I know you're lying side eye, right now!
I am not saying Twilo was horrible. It was ok but not as amazing as people make it out to be. Limelight was great from '94-'97 and not the main floor, it was all about the mirror room, the rooms, and the cha cha lounge. How could you think it was narrow, the side room was almost as big as the main floor and the place was four floors total. Roxy totally beats out Twilo in every way, for sure.
Ok, back to Jersey Shore! |

+1 man, I remember my buddy from NJIT used to go to arc all the time. The conversation went like this:
Him: Wanna go to Arc?
Me: Isn't that the one with no liquor license?
Him: Yea, but it's unbelievable music.
Me: that, I'm heading to Roxy/Exit
Massive fail, Frank :( |

Not sure what Twilo your talking about... Twilo was known as the best club world wide. I don't think people would fly in for the Jersey SHore lol or ROXY a roller rink. Roxy was a good club but doesn't compare to TWILO's sound system, lighting system, power bar etc... TWILO was the first club to make the DJ both a stage.. Lighting systm was out of this world rings of light around the disco ball and went around the dance floor up top.. The CO2 they use to blow down when a DJ came on or a sick song dropped. the upper stairs with those bouncing ball chairs. they had snow cones upstairs too I can keep going...
Roxy didn't any of the above. |

yea mine was kind of the same way
i went there once like back in 02 for dt, but like a dunski i went early and his set was ehhh, plus like u said there was no booze and the women were not all that, so yea of course to me back then exit and factory were the better choices
but what i know now i would have pre-gamed like a animal before hand then went to arc for dannys afterhours marathon sets |

Really, according to who was Twilo the best club world wide? What the does the Jersey Shore have to do with anything? I was watching Jersey Shore, on MTV when I said back to Jersey Shore. You think people never flew in for Roxy or any of the other clubs I mentioned? You are very wrong about that. People would fly here for a DJ or two, then sometimes never leave. Most DJs were from other cities and people flew here all the time. I even saw people fly for Konkrete Jungle and that was(still is) a Monday night party. I didn't say Roxy was the best of all time but it was the best at one time, you can't say the same for Twilo. If you're calling the Roxy just a roller rink then you completely missed the point. The Roxy had a great system, four rooms(counting the back of the sky box). Palladium and Tunnel's sound systems and lighting completely beat Twilo's. Palladium set the standard for lighting. Seriously, first stage for a DJ? What about Junior's booth at Tunnel, the DJ was on stage center rink at Roxy for a while, Limelight(real Limelight, not Avalon era) many times had djs on the main stage, Shelter also had the dj on stage(with live percussion, tyvm). I can't stand CO2, it is obnoxious. Bouncing ball chairs? Good job at copying USA, too bad they didn't copy the slide too. Snow Cones? Shelter, but they missed copying the juice bar too that was there for a while. Even the fruit in the morning, that was from NASA when you paid one fee that included water, extras, and breakfast.
But still, Twilo was the best club evar!!11!!!111!!
 |

To each his own...
Twilo was the best club in New York for electronic dance music Period!!
Tunnel was a dump and so was limelight... Exit always sucked as well!
To say Shelter and Vinyl was better is a little strange as well both those clubs are just dark rooms. I still liked those places.
I started going to Roxy after Twilo closed so I don't know how it was before it. |

Yeah, nice edit, far from your other comment, pft.
No, it really wasn't. Did you ever even go to the clubs I mentioned? I seriously doubt it based on your comments. Tunnel was far from a dump and if you only went to Roxy after Twilo closed, you obviously were never at the Peter Gatien era of Limelight. I never mentioned Exit, it was a hole and I didn't go there. Shelter and Vinyl were the same place. I am not talking about Vinyl on Varick St. It wasn't a dark room, it was two rooms, a good entrance, and a lot of nooks like the crawl space above the back room. Their system was better than a lot of places and it drew a lot of big DJs.
From the looks of Santos, they are trying to bring it back. Now if they just adjust the system back to how it was for Timo Maas over last night, they will be perfect. I also liked it downstairs for a while, it really reminded me of Shelter's back room. |

I started hitting up those other places after TWILO closed so that's probably why we have this disagreement. I've been to Santos once and when I went I had to go downstairs and it was pretty dark... wasn't feeling it too much. |
