Hope somebody can help me out here...I've been trying to use Cubase vst 5.0 as my sequencer hosting different vst plugin synths and effects. Basically how I would like to work it, is to lay down a synth sequence that is say 128 beats long from a vst synth...export as audio then bring it back into the arrangement on an audio track. Then change the synth to the next sound I want to use, export, bring it back in on audio track...well you get my drift...after I get four or five tracks of audio that I like I bounce them down to one track. I've got the gist of how to set up the VST synth on a midi track and all that. This seems to work sometimes until I get maybe four tracks of audio laid down at which point the audio from the VST synth begins to crackle, stutter, disappear, warp...you name it...sometimes even if I move my mouse around the audio starts to pop...then the whole thing will usually crash. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here, but I'm assuming I have something set up incorrectly...I have a soundblaster live value card, PII 350, 330 Mb Ram...I feel like I should be able to handle this kind of load with the computer I have, so if anyone can give me some idea of things to try/change I'd be eternally grateful.
Thanks

is the audio stereo and have you sampled it with fx or added them afterwards?
Maybe you need to adjust the system pre-roll or buffer size?
there are alot of settings in cubase that can affect how a sound plays.
Its might be the cpu youve got, 128 bars is a long time for a loop to be running. If its stereo your looking at big file sizes and stuff.
Try playing with settings are stuff or maybe come up with a slightly differetn way of working.
good luck dude :) |

Thanks, I adjusted the preroll and the buffer size along with a couple of other things and things seem to be working better now. Appreciate the help! |
