The question is plain and simple for everyone else here who loves novation :) - I'm currently got the compact 49 but the SL MKii really intrigues me. I love the LED knobs along with the faders and the few extra bells and whistles it brings.
Do you guys think it is worth it or would you wait around for the next big MIDI controller. Judging by Ebay, I could get about 300 for my current keyboard, so that's $250 in my wallet after paypal + ebay . The SL MKii is $499 - so it'd be paying 250 for the upgrade along with a pain in the ass shipping process. (I cannot stand mailing things)
What you guys think |

I've toyed with many controllers over the last few months and end up using two knobs almost all the time. Cutoff and Resonance.
Do you need more controls on your MIDI controller or has you teh gear lust? ;)
Perhaps a DAW controller would be more useful, or some kind of fader control (such as the presonus faderport)? |

I don't find the extra ocntrols that great TBH. Mostly use it for Djing, and don't really find the faders accurate enough and they don't feel great. The endless rotaries click, so that makes them hopeless for controlling synth/effect parameters. Drum pads are useless. Keyboard is great. Theres not enough knobs on each channel and they're the wrong layout to use for an eq on each channel, and its quite awkward to map the rotaries.
I'd just get a nocturn if you want to control synth parameters.
This is for the mk1 btw, don't know if it applies to the mk2. |
