| Suspension is taking it to the extreme. No one would suspend him for drawing the easter bunny, or santa, or any other fairy tale creature. Although the sooner he learns things like his baby teeth aren't worth any money in the metaphysical realm, or that a sun deity supposedly died nailed to a tree so we could touch ourselves at night, is just a bunch of hogwash, the better off he'll be. |

Haha, reminds me of this guy in my high school art class who had fetal alcohol syndrome or something. He would draw pictures just like this all the time, except he would include students in them and label their names. I remember one that he called "Judas hanging from a tree," which was much more gory. My teacher always just laughed at him. |
and now he has a closet full of hooker skin that he wears like clothing. |

Crazy things happen, no more so in America.
I watched a documentary about a family called the Phelps and they were crazy motherfookers.
Shouting allsorts at funerals about gays and fags.
And they seem to get away with it fine.
And another programme about a deep south church where the pastor was considered a god. Then was booted out for having gay sex with rent boys.
So this story of a boy drawing something.
Doesnt shock me.
Only in America. |

What a joke.. though I suspect there must be some context to the drawing. I woder if he said anything while drawing it. |
He just drew X's over his eyes to show he was dying... but that's the correct symbol; J-dawg dying on the cross. The kids were asked to draw something that reminded them of Christmas. The teacher and administrator recoiled in horror saying it was a violent image (even though Jesus had a smile in the photo). God damn our teachers/schools are worthless. |

Yeah but he might have said "hey teacher this is what i'm gonna do to YOU!" or something when he drew it. All the information seems to be coming from the parents side, looks like the school is keeping quiet about the whole thing. |

| a kid draws christ on the cross as when asked for something to do with christmas? clearly he's a danger to consumer society - he should have been drawing all the presents he expects his parents to get him. that's what christmas is all about |

it's funny that one of the LEAST progressive elements in our society is our school system. these days whenever schools are brought up, it's all about "protocols" and "zero-tolerance" and policies and things more indicative of a banking institution or corporation than a place of learning for the youth.
what happened to taking things on a case by case basis? what happened to common sense in the schools? what happened to keeping the kids interests at heart?
schools these days are much more interesting in limiting their liability to lawsuit than having a positive impact on those willing to learn, the system has become a politicized bastion of reaction.
schools suck. my vice-principal from when i was in high school! |

99% of American's hate them and would gladly see them executed, but we have this little thing called freedom of speech that allows them to say whatever they want. |

looks like this story was utter BS from the start.. The dad was probably trying squeeze some money out of the school.

Mass. school denies suspending student for drawing
By ERIC TUCKER (AP) – 2 hours ago
TAUNTON, Mass. — A Massachusetts school district is rebutting a father's claims that his son was suspended from school after drawing a stick figure of Jesus on a cross.
The Taunton School District said in a written statement Tuesday night that the second-grade student was never suspended over the drawing. It also said a drawing circulated to reporters by the boy's father, Chester Johnson, is not the same one that was discovered by the teacher.
The district says the boy's teacher never assigned students to draw something that reminded them of the holiday season, as Johnson told reporters Tuesday.
Johnson earlier said the boy made the drawing Dec. 2 after witnessing a holiday lights display. He said his son was suspended and ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation over concern about the drawing.
Johnson did not return a phone message from The Associated Press on Tuesday night. |

Well said my man. There are some good teachers and schools out there, but for the love of Pete... political correctness is a cancer. Have you spent any time around students in college who were getting their degrees in Education and poised to be the next generation of teachers?
It's scary. In college, my girlfriend at the time lived with 3 education majors... and in grad school, I spent a ton of time in the building for graduate education programs. Depressingly stupid. All I could think to myself was, "Jesus... are these ing nimrods the future educators of our youth??" |
