VfB Stuttgart v Barca
Expecting something along the lines of 0-3 0-4. Massive talent difference between the two teams here - a Stuttgart in dreadful form versus probably the best team in the world.
Olympiakos v Bordeaux
The game of the round. After their superb group stage, you'd have to put Bordeaux as the favourites. But I do wonder if they are going to be affected by the fact they don't have the surprise factor anymore. What happens in the first leg will be crucial as the greek teams are always strong at home.
Inter v Chelsea
It's pretty funny how Mourinho always gets these personal games in the draws, it's always Chelsea or Barcelona or Liverpool or Porto. Chelsea is on mega form this season and I'm afraid Jose will get knocked out early again.
Bayern v Fiorentina
Depends on their form by next February, if the game was right now I'd bet on Bayern who finally seems to be getting better and better. Fiore seems to be better in Europe than domestically, but I believe being in a group that had a Lyon and Liverpool both below their potential, made Fiore look better than they are. This shouldn't be one-sided games either way.
CSKA Moscow v Sevilla
CSKA will probably be on poor form, since February is pre-season for them, and you'd put Sevilla as the favs on talent anyway.
Lyon v Real Madrid
Real seems to surprisingly have managed to gel together all those big names, and Lyon are struggling. Even Lisandro shouldn't be able to save them here.
Porto v Arsenal
Not a bad draw for us, given the other options, but I'd still put Arsenal as the favs. We're not as strong as last season and a bit inconsistent at the moment.
Milan v Manchester United
With this should be an interesting match. Man Utd on paper has slight favouritism, but Milan is improving and I could see them surprising Alex Ferguson. |
