I think she may have meant that it was a shame that he died and not shame on him for dying that way...

But I think you're right in that maybe ppl see alcoholism not as an addiction but something else??

Ahh, yeah that makes sense.


But yeah, I see no reason why people shouldn't be allowed to talk about it, or think that it should be kept hush hush. NOT talking about it certainly doesn't help - and as I said, only serves to perpetuate misunderstanding and foster judgmental/ignorant attitudes.

It's not that I didn't want to talk about it. I just don't feel that I was close enough to him to start spreading the reason for his passing. I knew that someone who knew him better would eventually share the news on here.

i think she meant its a real shame....

which it is as it always is when someone dies prematurly no matter what the cause.
