Something I'm working on. Haven't EQed it yet. Any opinions or comments?

Try side-chaining that other perc element or put some swing on it, straight quantized is kind of boring. The kick could have been better selected. Other than this, so far, so good. If you haven't EQ's the highs, I don't know if I would recommend doing so at this point. A lot of times less EQ means better EQ. I would be enjoying this a lot more with a better kick. That phased synth might need a tiny EQ notch on a higher part to get that extra bright part out, but it's a good phased synth. Strings pad in the back and everything fits in fine. The pads in the back sound a little too oscilatorish, maybe put a bit of chorus or something on it to make it sound more natural? Sounds like the vanguard with no effects or anything.

Also, work on this breakdown, it's not doing it for me! The vanguard string keeps distracting me, and the chords don't resolve properly for me. Something about the melodies you chose.

What do you mean by "put some swing" on the percussion? Also what don't you like about the kick?

Thanks so much for the great comments! I'll definitely look into everything you said.

I worked on it some more, tried taking Evolve140's advice, changed the main melody, EQed it.
