Is your mother more religious than your father?

I was reading the thread about Christmas gifts, and both D-res and Omega_blue said their mothers were listening to religious music. And, so is mine (and that's not a Christmas thing, in her case, she's always listening to Ave Maria, all year round).

This got me thinking: my father, though he is religious, is not nearly as moved by religion as my mother, who considers religion to be among the most important things in her life. I haven't heard of a single family in which the opposite was true (the father was more pious than the mother), so I decided to investigate a bit and see if this is just because my sample is biased, or if there's something about women being more religious than men overall.

Let's see...

Hahahaha. My father was a Catholic turned atheist and my mother tried every religion under the sun. She was even baptized Jehova's Witness and practiced that for some years during her first marriage. When my sister and I were born she had us both baptizec Catholic.

In short, yes.

My mum is a devout Catholic (though not crazy devout of course).
Dad practices Catholicism but doesn't really believe in it. More of an agnostic/atheist.

I practice Catholicism (sometimes) but am definitely an agnostic.

My mom is the quintessential evangelical creationist Christian. My dad professes to be Protestant Christian but doesn't really go to church that often. My mom is definitely more religious.

My mother claims to be religious, but does not live the lifestyle whatsoever. She just tells herself that Jesus is real.

My father is a conspiracy nut, he believes everything (especially religion) is all a scheme to get his money. :p

I'm not religious, mostly due to my schooling.

Yeah my mother is more religious.

although both have been fairly dissilusioned by the whole church thing after conservative, dutch protestant-calvinist upbringings, my father was always far more into it than my mother...

If my parents do believe in god they sure dont show it...the only reason they every did go to church (and even then only during the holidays) was to keep the grandparents frm complaining who were quite religious. And while ill maintain that neither is actually religious my mother is quick to point out that shes a different denomination of christian than my father, but im willing to bet thats just so that we can celebrate chritmas and new years twice.
