Lack of Allen & Heath resellers in the USA

Why is there such a lack? I'm in the market for a Xone 42 but I haven't found many shops that sell Xones. Guitar Center is a no-go, they've got Pioneer, Denon, and other such stuff. I'm figuring I'll be going through a local record shop since the guy that owns the place says he can special order products like Allen & Heath mixers; I'm just wondering why more shops don't have them readily available in their inventory.

And yes, I know I could go through an online retailer like agi but I'd rather deal with someone directly especially if I have any issues. I'm betting the guy can special order it for me, and probably throw in a discount, but I'm nonetheless flummoxed as to why they aren't in most music stores that have dj equipment.

Also, is this the case in other countries/states/cities, or just here in the Atlanta area?

Well, for one, they probably wouldn't sell many at all.

Eh, there's plenty of Allen & Heath fanboys. Maybe not as much as Pioneer jocks, but most of the people I know who are into music (not even exclusively electronic) know of Allen & Heath.

Maybe I'm giving them far too much benefit of the doubt.

Go to agiprodj online. I think you'll get about as good a deal as any from them.

Second on AGI. I've bought stuff from Unique Squared, and if I'm not mistaken, they are in Atlanta, GA. I think they should have a store for demo, since I've seen demo units listed on their website.

I got my 42 from DJdeals.com for real cheap (like $675). I'm pretty sure it was because they had stock and the new one with a prettier faceplate is coming out. I would have prefered to order it from my local shop, Beatlab, but they couldn't even come close to matching the price. I was still willing to pay more to them to support my local, but then A&H told them it was back-ordered till January (this was in October). I just couldn't justify spending more and waiting longer. I got the 42 3 days after I ordered it from DJdeals.com. Beatlab couldn't even sell me the 32 for less than I was getting the 42 for.

I live in Atlanta and I hadn't even heard of Unique Squared until this post. Hmm. Learn something new everyday...

All 3 major stores in Southern California carry Allen & Heath... That's Guitar Center, Sam Ash, ProSound (http://www.pssl.com). Even Six Star DJ carries A&H.

Just because it isn't listed on their website doesn't mean they don't carry it.

That's true actually. The GC near me had two Xone 3D boxes stacked up high in the DJ room for a few years. They couldn't sell 'em. Haven't seen any A&H there since then though.

Honestly, if you want the best price on A&H gear, or any dj gear for that matter, buy B stock off of Ebay. There are a lot of huge retailers with tons of feedback on there that sell these things at a huge discount. They also come with a full 1 yr factory warranty. For example, I got my Xone 92 (b stock) for $1050 shipped to my door. It was in brand new condition and came with everything that comes with the mixer when new (box, manuals, stickers, etc.), and it worked A OK as expected. Brand new pretty much...... Where are you going to beat that price? I'm sure they have similar deals on other Xone mixers. If you really want the best price this is the best way to go other than buying used. I've bought TONS of gear this way and have saved a lot of $$$.

Oh btw, there is one retailer in particular (proaudiostar) who tends to sell new gear at B stock prices. My most recent purchases have been through them, simply because they had the best price ANYWHERE. Check them out, they sell a lot of A&H stuff....

plus ing one on AGIPRODJ.com

Haven't had a single negative experience with them and over the years have bought

2x cdj800mk2's, 1 djm800, 1 A&H xone 4D all at incredible prices.

They have some awesome customer service too.

agi was too slow to respond so I've gone with the local record shop as planned. They said both the 42 and 62 would cost 900 so I chose the 42 since it's newer and has easier connectivity to computers. They said they'll try to get a black one for me :D

It should be here in a few more days.
