Yes they do. I'm gonna see ZOE (My GF's favorite band) and Aterciopelados. Both really good Mexican bands. |
Aterciopelados are colombians. Nice to see Zoe on the line-up, they'll do it great. Cafe Tacvba were there last year or something.
Sunday would be my choice Thom Yorke, Pavement, Gorillaz, Orbital, Yo La Tengo, Gary Numan, Plastikman :wtf: |

| Wow! Really excited about orbital!!! And let's be honest the festivals are all about numbers. They are still probably paying ratm. People don't play for free! But orbital, wow what a pleasant surprise... Now if only they would add chicane to do a live set on sundown... Oh, and guetta sucks :( |

They manage to book quite a good number of excellent non edm acts. |
But it isn't an edm festival. That's the whole thing-- I think, to get the likes of Tiesto, Guetta, 2manydjs, deadmau5, kaskade, benassi etc etc etc is pretty spectacular for coachella. And orbital! There's more depth to the edm line up than in more recent years.
The cheese is there, yeah, but there's a bit of depth too. And also, realize that a good portion of the "indie" community feels the same way about bands like Muse that the TA community feels about the aforementioned edm acts. You're still right, of course-- Owen Pallett, Sunny Day Real Estate, and pavement!! really stand out to me. (including the recent addition of jonsi from sigur ros).
All I'm saying is that it's better than full days of ed banger and crew in the sahara, feel me? |

i was actually gonna chime in on this... I could have SWORN that performers DID play for free...or was that the Burning Man event? Syd Grys had mentioned how his crew was doing fundraisers for a festival. it was probably burning man.... |

You call that depth? :stongue: Lets have a look at 2008, shall we?
Aphex Twin, Adam Freeland, Fatboy Slim, Above & Beyond, Pendulum, Sandra Collins, Boys Noize, James Zabiela, Junkie XL, Kraftwerk, Sasha & Digweed, The Field (his tour got canceled, but he counts because he was billed), The Glitch Mob, Booka Shade, Danny Tenaglia, Deadmau5, Justice, Modeselektor & Simian Mobile Disco.
Regardless of whether or not you actually like any of the artists, there was still a lot more "depth" to that electronic music lineup just two years ago than there is this year. Hell, there was more "depth" in the ninety-minute set that Richard D. James threw down than there will be all weekend in the Sahara this year. |

| Yawn, get me something worth going for. EDC will have a better lineup. Tiesto and Guetta make me NOT want to go |

There's more to music than just electronic music, you know... |

On my facebook page, my religion lists "Trance Music". Muse is badass, but the rest of that garbage isn't worth paying bukoo bucks for. I can have a weekend of a lifetime with the ticket price for coachella at EDC (as long as tiesto guetta or deadmau5 don't show up) |

Well that pretty much just ends this conversation. Expand your mind a bit, Jesus Christ. :stongue: |

lmao
It started as a rave in the desert, and only in the past 5-6 years or so (maybe more) strayed away from dance music and into more indie rock/mainstream. |

| Drew (Rukes) is claiming on Facebook that Deadmau5's production will rival Daft Punk's. |

Yes, you're thinking Burning Man.
Coachella pays its artists alright. Some acts reportedly costing millions over the years. Either way, they pay their artists and often put a clause in their contract that they can't play near where Coachella is for so long. I am not sure if that's on an artist-to-artists basis or if it's standard in all their contracts though. But if the artist does have the clause, don't expect to see 'em in any club in SoCal anytime soon. |
