ok here goes ill try explain it clearly, abletons for the last 12 month has always been abit buggy and crashes now and again which i could deal with , but for my last project towards the end i was getting random cpu spikes often going from say 40 % to like 300 % and then the sound went off, and it crashes when i try to save project, which resulted in me getting pissed off so much i did a clean reinstall of windows, its took me ages to get evrything back up and running and im now on a new project (i lost the last one cos of the reinstall)but same thing again on this project, i think its cpu but its weird if it is cos i only built this comp less than 12 month ago and dont really use any diff synths or effects from when i built it, i must admit my projects have gotton more complex but the cpu rarley goes above 40 % in the cpu meter until it it s up usually when i scroll back without pressing stop. even for previous projects i probly used as nearly as many plugins without any trouble. could it be something other than cpu? like ram or my comps settings? i hope it is.

id appreciate any help as i dont wanna have to buy i knew comp right now but these crashes are wasting alot of my time and very frustrating too, cheerio.

btw, quad core q6600, 4 g ram, windows xp pro, abelton live 8, echo audiofire 4 with latest drivers, the project that crashed all the time was using sylenth, gladiator 2,v- station, sonalksis bundle for filter and compressor, abes eq 8 and arts acoustic reverb on the returns and warmverb 2 instances, sounds maybe alot ive run more plugins in older projects tho

I found this statement on the ableton forums:

quote:
Dear Ableton users,

Some of you have experienced and reported problems with Live 8 several months ago that we have still failed to fix. This is both painful and necessary for us to discuss. We owe you sincere apologies, as well as an explanation and outlook for the future.

Ableton values quality over innovation. Our engineers will stop whatever they are doing to fix a bug when they become aware of it. They must, however, rely on a process that prepares the incoming information and funnels it to them appropriately. Establishing and maintaining this process is the responsibility of management -- particularly us, Bernd and Gerhard -- and this is where things have gone wrong while we let our attention divert to ambitious new projects.

Our apologies also extend to both the Ableton developers and tech support colleagues because they want to be proud of software and service that users love.

We have now decided to:

* suspend all development towards new features while the whole team joins forces to address the current issues. This effort is open ended and will result in a free Live 8 update;
* make process changes to prevent similar situations from happening in the future.

We hope this plan finds your understanding and agreement. We'd like to wish you a very happy holiday season and a wonderful 2010!
