| Sorry for maybe a foolish question, but what is the difference between sending a track to a record label and an artist manager? |

An artist manager is a middle man between you and the party promoters/magazines and sometimes the labels too. They mainly exist to boost one's profile and are most usefull if you have a realistic long-term career plan.
An artist manager is only interesting when you're so popular that you're running short on time to do your own own administration work (self-promotion, negotiating, contacting promoters) or if they provide you extra benefits which you don't have on your own. In most cases: unless you travel across the globe on a regular basis having one isn't worth it (because they'll cost you more than they'll earn you). |

| I wonder whether globally acclaimed DJs/producers like Armin or ATB started with artist managers or record labels? |

Labels of course. :)
You first need a release to kickstart your career as a producer. |

| Say, if i am successful enough to have my tracks released at labels, will a manager find me or is it me who will seek one? |

| It could be either. Be wary of the ones contacting you though and check their profile and artists they work for/with. I've had a couple which just offered very dodgy contracts. |
