Well, I was in Toronto (again) for the weekend, and went to see MB at system soundbar. The place didnt impress me at all... I didnt really like it, too small, small ceilling. The people, once again sucked, didnt get the same vibe as in montreal (aria, or whatever). The only thing that made the night enjoyable was MB's set, which was really good. She played a variety of different songs, a few trance, as well, as different mix. What I did like about the place is that you get to dance right in front of her while she is spinning. I was in front of there for the whole night, and let me tell you, seeing her spin, and getting into it was the sexiest thing I have ever seen, and I wasn't on anything (was on her, but, you know). She totally blew me away. What sucked though is that we went out with some rookies that wanted to leave at 3, and no one else wanted to stay with me, :(...
System soundbar, is something like the 2nd most best, or most renowned after in Toronto, and it doesn't even come close to anything we have here. If it wasnt for MB, i would have hated the night.
I heard that she is spinning this weekend at Jary park (not sure), for some sort of event... does anyone have info on that, I would love to see her again...

System Sound Bar is a hole in the ground. The sound system has no quality whatsoever nor do they have a respectable lighting system.
I honestly don't know why people set foot in that place and honestly if it wasn't for the hook-ups Greco has that place would never get any international artists. |

I disagree with System Sound Bar having a lousy sound system.. The lighting is kidna cheap I agree, and the lasers are weak. But for the sound itself is decent. I've been to system on good nights and bad nights (say john'00, when he spun that psytrance stuff.. didn't come out at all).. has a lot has to do with what kind of music is playing, how much people are in there, how the system is tuned etc.
anyways, point is I've never walked out of System with ringing ears (w/o ear plugs that is).
If you want to complain that much about the sound, you might as well stay home and listen to music in your room on a 500$ sony mini-system, which does a pretty decent job, because you'll have to wait another couple of years before evrey club upgrades to something more better..
and TechnoFreak, lack of women at system I agree... but that's not a fault of the club, moreso of the city.. and personally I like the layout of system, its very cosy.. (although I liked it better w/o teh bar in back.. ), personally I find, the best parties in Toronto are at the warehouse (ok.. koolhaus), next time you're in TO check try and check one of those out |

To complete my rant: Compared to most clubs the sound is fine at Systems. But remember I'm comparing the sound at Systems to the Guv & VIVA and honestly it doesn't even come close.
Kool Haus is an awesome venue, perhaps the best venue in the city. HOWEVER: I find that the sound in there has little depth, i mean it doesn't fill the room well with sound so they crank the baby up to almost max in there; that ends up punishing the ears. |

I used to like System a lot, mostly cuz of the crowd and cozy nature, but the last few times I was there the crowd wasn't as good and the place just didn't have the same vibe. I liked it better when they had no laser, kept the place lighter, and fewer Ginos went there. Sound is not great, but not bad as long as you stand in one of the sweet spots. I agree that it is nice is that it doesn't bother the ears much.
I agree that KoolHaus is the best venue by far. Sound and lighting are quite decent now, and enough space to dance. Also, usually crowd is good cuz mostly those in the know go there.
The Guv?? I still don't see why everyone thinks it's so great, but won't add to the millions of Guv complaints (see T.O. forum). I will say that even the sound is usually too distorted because they turn it up too much, though that system does have potential for very good sound when they use it properly. |
