Thing is he never was a dj, just some guy with a funny name catching the attention, making some retro bleep-bleep tunes. From that he whored out his productions as a 'dj', so its wrong the think he's a dj from the origin/starting point. |

| The guy's been quoted as saying that he doesn't want to DJ, just prodcuce. But he realized there's no better way to market his music than by DJing. I saw him 2 years ago and his DJ abilities were below average, yet when I saw him 2 months ago he was 100 times better. He's honed his craft and puts on a CRAZY live show now. The guy's a technical genious, give him credit for that. |

The Top 100 should never be used as a benchmark, so that story is completely irrelevant ..
Though that doesnt take away Deadkunt remains an utterly ty DJ. |

I think it's not even a decision for them; its in their nature. Real dj's becomes dj's, others just become grabbers like the kunt mouse. |

First of all he's a live artist, a musician of the 21th century.
HE'S NOT A DJ. SO STOP WHINING HE'S A BAD ONE!
He's a producer and his technical skills, whether you like his music or not, are very professional. I'm a fan, but of course I don't like all his tunes, which is normal. Some are all time legends though.
About the going commercial :
'Going commercial' implies making ty tunes over and over and over again with a hot chick with big to make it sell. This is not what the mau5 does (and second he's not rich at all :p). He just makes music and lots of people like it. If you are, for example, a producer. Your underground popularity is ok, but that's all of it. All of a sudden a big guy from BBC radio asks you to play at essential mix n stuff. You are asked for I Love Techno. To play for thousands of people in a sold out arena.
What would you say? "Oh no! Terrible! I'd never do that! That would make me too commercial! Yuck!"

About the 'self promotion'
WTF is your point? Even though I am a hobby dj myself, I acknowledge the fact that deadmau5's comments were right. Over 90% of DJ's are just some doods who play other people's songs by pressing Start & Stop and occasionally sliding a fader. Some of them are big stars and make big money. He's against this; as are loads of clear thinking artists! It's ok to DJ, it's fun; but don't think of yourself as some big and genius artist just because you can play other people's tracks at the same time.
