clicks and skips recording to new laptop..any help?

i just got a new dell with windows 7 and recorded for the 1st time with sound forge on this laptop and got alot of clicks and skips
any thoughts???
and ofcourse it was a brilliant 2hr:mad: |

Fakkk, sorry to hear that.
Seems like a ty internal sound card... I use to have the same issue recording onto my old Creative Live5.1! sound card, was recording at the standard 16 bit 44.1 khz. Maybe a different driver would help? I doubt you want to dish out money for an external. Have you tried Audacity? |

sounds like you are playing in the red to me.
try playing lower for the recording and boost the audio volume accordingly in soundforge or similar program later on. |

I had audio skips and stutters with Win7 too, went nearly mad trying to figure out what caused them. In the end it was the Nvidia graphics drivers, I had to revert to older ones and poof, all problems were gone.
