Yes...Ricky Sypher is actually one of my fave locals now. The technical difficulties were dealt with really quickly and didn't come up again. The pace was slowed down a bit at first after D-Unit gave us eargasms, but he built it back up and later on in his set was playing some seriously drummy, golden tribal. This guy has some ricidulous talent and knows his music.
Also (since I didn't really write much of a review before), as I mentioned D-Unity was absolutely off the walls. They're definitely at their best when those boys spin together versus only having one guy present. And agreed, Junkies were mental. I think back to a year or so ago, and everytime I saw them they weren't playing an energetic set in my opinion. But MAN they've really been impressing me, especially over the past few months! Seriously know how to get people rocking it!
Music overall at this event was absolutely amazing, especially considering I wasn't going into this with a load of expectations (I've been more excited about all the huge bookings/parties coming up the next couple months!). This was honestly probably the best time I've had at Footwork since Jaxx Houze last summer. |

only a quick review right now but main points:
-val kicked ass :) junkies are back in town!!
-d-unity ing KILLED it, that's the old d-unity i've been jonzing to see! one played tech, followed by SERIOUS drums!! i put this as tied for 2nd best d-unity set ever, 1st being d-unity & entrena at zone (WHOA) and 2nd being their set at basement last year....LOVE YOU GUYS :):)
-ricky sypher has talent, loved the tracks he dropped towards the end, really got us all grooving at the front!!
all in all i've come to the conclusion that some friday local parties can be off the walls and way better than saturday nights with headliners! |

i've been hearing alot about Ricky and was hoping to finally catch one of his sets, but we unfortunately had to get going....guess i missed out once again, ah well there's always next time.
and i totally agree with you.. about both junkies and d-unity.. d-unity are greatest when together.. and watching the junkies spin for a few years now i've noticed alot of changes, all for the better.. they've been a hit every time i've seen them in the past few months. |

I wish I could've gotten to this party earlier. D-Unity was ing OUTRAGEOUS! These guys need to play zone so bad it hurts!! Their music would be absolutely perfect there. Footwork was absolutely out of control when I walked in! I cannot describe what it's like to walk into a party that's going off like that. Ricky Syfer played a really good closing set as well. I want to see this guy booked more.
LOCAL TALENT FTW!! |
