What to do with old CRT monitors?
View this Thread in Original format

hey guys, so I'm in the midst of cleaning out my basement and have a bunch of old (but working) CRT monitors in storage that have accumulated over the years. Is there any point in even trying to sell these things online or should I not bother and just bring them over to an eWaste Recycling Centre for disposal? Or perhaps better yet is there someplace that you can actually donate them for a worthy cause? Thoughts are welcome. Thanks all.

launch them off a balcony

Drag them behind a car, it's kinda fun.

I can only imagine dragging multiple monitors :D

I recycled mine finally.

In Mississauga, I just put them on the curb, and the city came by to pick them up, no charge!

thanks.. sounds like recycling is the way to go here. I'll call the city (for Toronto) and see if they'll pick them up or whether I'll have to take them to an eWaste facility.

I'm pretty sure in Toronto you have to take it to the facility and pay per item, which is not cheap. In Mississauga, if you took it to the depot, you had to pay, but if you left it on your curb, it was free. Go figure. :wtf:

At my new job (animation company), we still use CRT's for determining accurate colours for the work, as LCD's still are not good enough to use for final rendering.

What are you talking about???

There are a multitude of siege engine competitions with the trebuchet always as the star of the show...

And those monitors would make wicked ammo...
