It's pretty obvious that Moodymann was the basis for the name...when it's this obvious, it's obviously intentional, so I don't see what the big deal is.

Really great release, first one from Tsuba in awhile that I've been impressed with, those Justin Drake and Robert Dietz EPs just went over my head.

So if I name myself DJ Deadmau5c it wouldnt raise any eyebrows? He's using someone else's name who's been established for 15-20 years to get people to click on his music thinking its a new KDJ alias or something

If I were KDJ i'd be pissed at this character trying to cash in on my integrity
Schadenfreude
yeah, but that name goes off really big in a warehouse.

Nobody raises any eyebrows at the name "Joy Orbison" and this is exactly the same thing: changing one letter of a well known name to make a pun. So stop moaning and go back to pretending to like cool records.

I never said it was a big deal. I was simply defending MAnthony because he was actually right for once, the name is clearly a rip off/pun and there is no denying. I personally don't care or have any problems with it, people have their own artistic decisions. Who am I to judge? I don't dislike Moodymanc's stuff either, he has some nice tracks.

i bet he lives in manchester

lol at the manchester joke..I just got that :)

if he were going for a good pun name Cootiemann would have been a better choice. Tacking a letter onto the end really just helps his name come up in search results for moodyman, so in that regard I guess it was a good business move. Here we are debating over his music and giving him free press.

You win mr. moodymanc, well played sir.

now that I'm thinking about this, wasnt there an interview on youtube with someone old school from detroit (maybe derrick may?) where he was talking about someone named himself with a "black sounding" artist name, and a black guy's face on the cover of the album? Apparently the person made deep soulful music, but it turned out to be a white guy from germany, and the person being interviewed was pissed off when he found out the guy wasnt black? I wish I could find that clip
