An originator and innovator, Gene Le Fosse has been central to New York’s techno scene since the early 1990’s. As Program 2, Gene worked with legends Joey Beltram and Victor Calderone before launching his own Convolute Records label to push his solo projects. As a DJ, Gene started out as a resident of Limelight (NYC) with Jeff Mills and has gone on to play across North America and Europe alongside Sven Vath, Carl Cox and Adam Beyer.
Soul Lives On is a throbbing chunk of atmospheric peak-time techno. Founded on booming beats and low, floor-shaking bass, the tracks impact comes from the variety of deftly constructed sound effects like speeding juggernauts and distorted, scratchy vocal loops that are weaved into the mix.
Crazy stays on the atmospheric tip but pushed the vibe further into darker, more wigged out territory. Built for the early hours, this cinematically constructed mood-maker has all the elements to hold the crowd in an otherworldly grip with a killer melodic loop, haunting effects and a nasty buzzing bassline to twist everyone out.
