Ha! My ex roommate is one of the Promise boys....and last year they were throwing 'Booty House' as he called it, parties. I asked him what the Booty House was, so he played me some tracks, and said it was from Miami & Detroit (i think). I was ing rolling around on the floor laughing. It's truly ghetto fabulous. I couldn't believe ppl actually wanted to hear an entire set of it. Def. NOT for me.
Other than his parties though, I've never heard anything else about it? Where is it currently being played in T.O.????

With the exception of DJs who might drop a Booty cut or two into their sets, it isn't.
The more accomplished Booty/Ghetto House/Ghetto-Tek DJs tend to have a background in turntablism - without that, full sets of this kind of music can be pretty yawn inducing. Jeff Cochrane, a.k.a. Vortex, was easily one of the best Booty DJs to come out of Toronto - he later switched to straight-up Techno, but I coerced him into playing a full-on bounce set at my going away party before I went overseas in '99. Mike Tull is another name that comes to mind - pretty sure he's one of the guys Dave and Irving brought in for the short-lived "Dirty Motor" nights you're referring to.
The Don, Brian Jeffries a.k.a. DJ Godfather...

Ah yes....I believe it was DJ Godfather that Dave was playing for me. He said the Dirty Motor parties were pretty wild. I really respect him and Irving for bringing in DJ's that are risky (don't have a large established fan base in toronto). Anything different is always a nice change. I enjoyed hearing Dubstep recently at FW, but it was funny to see how much 'most' people HATED IT! Not that i know a lot about Dubstep, but that one set def. wasn't a good one to judge it on. It could have been better. I hope that's not that last I hear of Dubstep!
Even though all genres may not fly here, it's still nice to see Promoters and clubs taking chances on talent, and genres that are outside of the box. I actually regret not attending any of the Dirty Motor parties, just for the entertainment value.

A true ghetto-tek/booty night is AWESOME! The DJs are fast and furious with their mixing, cuts, flips etc... it's really something you have to witness. And the dancing WOW LOL! The dancing!

Gotta love the "Side A/B" that's due to the fact that these were originally recorded to cassette.
