Are epic electronic music festivals a thing of the past? (pg. 2)

wont happen in ontario anymore.
Will scare away condo developers, island residents and loons!

| Look up Northtek. It's a free festival that's generally in northern Ontario. I'm not sure if it's the same place every year but last year it was about 2 hours north of Ottawa (maybe on the Quebec side actually). I don't think it hits 10 000 people at all, but the people I know who went had a good time. It's all DIY, so people who come set up they're own stages and stuff, so it's not as big as WEMF but it's outdoor camping and rave. |

These days, we have to get it when and as we can - infrequently and in small doses. I played at this year's Beatroot as well, t'was fun times! Give that little fest some time and it may grow to meet your expectations. |

Oh definitely. If im in the area next summer I really want to help Curtis with promotion and getting some more people out. There were some solid local DJ's there. |

"scaring away the loons" was actually a quote in an orangeville newspaper in regards to WEMF and the bylaw they passed to prevent WEMF from ever returning. |

Eclipse. Shambhala. Burning Man. And so on. I went to five outdoor EDM festivals last season. There are so many to choose from now, big or small. Ontario is a bit vacant, it's true... but you don't have to go much further afield to hit up something good.
(Why people revere WEMF is really beyond me. I went to three and they were all a complete mess. Sketchy as hell.) |
