Always wondered, would there be less cheese/massive kicks and more melody/good music?

People did the sidechain effect before sidechaining became popular..

example: you can emulate sidechaining with auto-pan on ableton...

In order for there to be "without sidechain" you need to first STOP TALKING ABOUT IT. Seriously though wtf.

If you want to know what I really think about sidechaining I personally don't give a . What has come to actually bother me more then sidechaining, is the fact that for some reason there needs to be a g/damn thread about it everyday.

Done right, side chain can sound fantastic. Just because something is overused is no reason to take a legitimate tool away from those who know how to implement it well.

Plus when done subtly it can greatly help in making a clearer mixdown.

Wow, never seen a thread like this before.

Stop whinging about side chaining and "the loudness war". The majority of people think it sounds good, or producers wouldn't do it. You're just trying to be elitist and turn everything into some kind of moronic philosophical debate.

It's here, people like it, get over it.

Good music/melodies and sidechaining/ducking are not mutually exclusive.

It can be linked to anything. Doesn't have to be just the volume knob.

owien
it's a clever tool and a good way to help fill out ya mix

I don't use sidechaining unless its a pad.

So for me , no more side chaining would be equal to no more side-chained sawtooth/additive pads. Boowhoo...
