oh it's also SF dine about town week and many of the participating restaurants also take part in restaurant.com gift certificates.

colibri on geary is one of my fave's and they offer 1000 points for weekend brunch.
so if u pay with american express credit card, reserve using open table and redeem a restaurant.com gift certificate...
you can have 2 brunches at colibri tomorrow(17.95 *2)= $35.90, use your restaurant.com gift certificate -$25 and meal for two turns into $10.90(plus tax and tip) and you earn 1000 open table points.
go back on sunday and do the same and u gain another 1000 open table points.
redeem your points for a $20 check
go back next saturday and do the same thing and you basically have that meal FREE(your $20 check) and you still earn 1000 points(halfway to your next $20 check) and you get $15 from american express for 3 dines during SF dine around town....
seriously folks, if you complain about being broke and like going out, you just arent taking advantage of all the benefits/resources that are out there...
oh and colibri also used to be a member of dining mileage plan, so i used to get airline miles too :gsmile: |

go to the webpage and look up restaurants in your city that appeal to you. add the certificates you want, and at the end in the promo code type indulge.
OR(what i like to do)
Purchase them as "gift certificates" thus not assigning a specific restaurant to the certificate. you can then redeem these later for the restaurant of your choice.
so ya buying 20 is a good idea, then you can send them out as gifts on birthdays, holidays etc.
usually the restaurant adds an 18% gratuity on the pre-discounted price, before the $20 deduction(or $10 or $50 as the certificates do come in different denominations)
even though SF for me requires a flight and hotel, i usually end up saving money on a weekend out there as opposed to a weekend in town lol. |

they have a phone number,you can call and order that way too....just say you want to buy them as gifts...
you will get a code for each certificate and when you want to redeem just follow instructions in the email. its really easy.
i gave out like 500 $10 certificates last month via their feed it forward program.

i try...i post deals i find on the forum, so keep an eye out.
the code expires on tuesday. so you can always call the company if you dont want to submit Credit card info over the net.
oh and folks, i dont work for them, i dont make anything off sales. one of the LATA's asked me about that last month, just passing along the deals. |

Thanks for the tip! I bought 16 GC's for $32, which is good for $400 worth of dining. Since they never expire, seemed worth it.
The general GC's must be redeemed for restaurant-specific GC's, which is no problem, but a few restaurants near me were out of certificates and it said to check back 1st of the month. My friend is convinced this is a scam and that the restaurant will just say they don't take the certificates, but I've read some good reviews about the program.
The closest restaurant to me is probably Cafe Med on Sunset Blvd, and I did read that someone tried to use a restaurant.com certificate along with a gift card, and they told the guy "one or the other," which seems reasonable...at least they honored one.
If I use just 2 of the 16 GC's, then I'm already in the black on this deal, especially if it's some of the places I normally go to already and pay full price! :D |
