Little Big Bee - K.G.O. (Tom Middleton Remodel) 12" [Flower Records]

Great rework based on the legendary Jazztronik remix of KGO (the one Danny Howells broke out on his essential mix in 2007). Tom Middleton featured it on his "One More Tune" cd last year and finally it has seen the light of day on wax. I already scooped a copy for myself since I'm #1 superfan of the Jazztronik remix. When I found this was out it made my week. :D

Sample is the 3rd song down on the Flower Records myspace player:

I listened to that on Juno earlier this week. It sounded exactly the same as the Jazztronik remix to me, though to be fair I only listened for two minutes.

Some of the percussion was removed and the kick drum is a bit punchier.

its a bit different also, that horn melody that comes on at the end of every other phase sounds a bit different and there is some sidechain business too. first time (and second time) i saw howells he played the jazztronik remix. i went bonkers :)

I think the Middleton remix is significant because its very good, and there were a lot of people who wanted the Jazztronik remix on vinyl but it was damn near impossible to get unless you were willing to bribe someone 75 to 100 dollars.

i don't think there's one middleton 'remodel' i didn't like, not that i've heard them all. i have no problem with remakes of classics if they can be handled like these, with silk gloves.

near a perfect ten if you take them for what they are, remakes.

I agree. I really like Tom's remodel of Love Stimulation by Humate as well. I'm gonna have to listen to the rest of the One More Tune comp

halcyon for me :)

Agreed. Tho Love Stimulation is my fav of the remodels on One More Tune; far better than the boredom Radio Slave got out of it.

Middleton has always had a magical touch no matter what he's been doing while another similar producer, Ashley Beedle has always been either a hit or miss type.

If only Middleton would get back together with Mark Pritchard to work on the Global Communication project again.. *sigh*

I agree that Middleton's remake of Humate is better than Radio Slave's but I really do enjoy that one that Radio Slave laid down. Generally though Matt's remixes under the Radio Slave alias have become a bit less consistent lately. I'm pissed that his reprise of Cagedbaby never got released on vinyl w/ Southern Fried. I guess ther's still a chance for it to come out. Maybe it got delayed

And speaking of the Global Communication project, I've been listening to 76:14 a lot in my car. That's some great music

i agree. that is great remodel of love stimulation because it gives us a modern house redo of the original. on that original release, i liked curious (original mix) better than love stimulation too.

I became completely obsessed with this track after Howells EM in Feb 07 and am still obsessed to this day. I know there is not much difference from the Jazztronic mix but it is more clubby and more st-friendly than the Jazztronic remix. Easily one of my favourite ever dance tracks. Agreed with all of the above....the Jedi master has a unique nack of being able to expertly pull off "remakes" that, unlike most other remakes, actually improve the original track instead of butchering it.
