hey guys just want your guys thoughts on longer main riffs these days like 32 bars and 64 bars .... or do you prefer shorter riffs like 16 and then just 32.

I know epeic trance is dead these days but history does repeat itself.

i find most tracks play the chorus in the breakdown and built it up then just go back to the rhythm section. I understand that this was a reaction against too much melody in songs but it was getting really old about 2 years ago and It is really unsatisfying. Most main drops seem to lack anything extra that makes it stand out from a really long standard outro. Sort of like techno.

aye i like a good riff it just takes some time to create a good one

mines usualy only a 1 bar loop or 2.

That's short. I remember when melodies used to be 8 bars.

the longer the better.. muscle mary's only like to flex when the bass is playing so if a long breakdown makes them run out to do a line of coke, less sweaty meat heads for the rest of us to deal with

Or to go to the bathroom to do press ups and get 'pumped up'.

Longest ive done is a 16 and I think thats enough. Not thats theres anything wrong with any longer as long as its good.

The Death of full on mega melodic stuff was the downfall tbh.

Days when sidechain wasnt the rage in tarting up e tunes and producers didnt spend 3/4 of the time on a 6 layer bassline.

Composition was the order of the day and tunes made you stand and think.

Not disputing there are not tracks like that being made today , but not like the good old days.
