The Music Box / Henry Fonda Theater...Reborn

I've been very curious about this...I caught a flyer at TAO for The Music Box and all it states on there is "A Hollywood Legend. Reborn." I go to the website on the flyer and all it states is there will be a grand re-opening. I haven't been able to find any official info anywhere about what they're doing or when it will happen, cause from what I know, there are still concerts going on there. So I asked a couple friends in the scene if they've heard anything and apparently there are a ton of rumors flying around and from what I gathered, something HUGE is on it's way for the EDM scene. I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to post any of the speculation so I'll try to be vague...but I hear some pretty important people from our scene are involved and have some pretty big plans. Also, I hear they are bringing in a MONSTEROUS sound system. Definitely can't wait to see how it all develops :)

in all honesty though...did the music box used to be a big part of LA's edm scene?

I participated in a bunch of psytrance shows there including shows with Yahel, Astrix, Astral Projection, and Offer Nissum over the past 3 years. It was quite good when Godskitchen was doing events there, I went to quite a few good shows including Armin & Markus, Halliwell, J00F, and a few others.

The layout of the place is sick, and with the balcony and rooftop terrace all opened up it can put on a great show. It always just needed a facelift

I haven't been to HF since Godskitchen/former-Spundae-Worldwide was there and thought the venue had some potentional, but...

1. The Bars were ghetto. And it doesn't make it an appealing place just to come back to.

2. The worst sound I think I've ever been around for a big "weekly" club night. I remember when GK moved in and there were promises of it being replaced. Never saw it happen...did it?

3. The place overall was DIRTY.

That said, with a lot of TLC that place could be a pretty sick venue for EDM events. It just needs to be more modernized on the inside a little bit. The look back then works for rock events and all that, but for EDM events it was the type of venue that woudl never be able to attract a regular crowd, IMO.

There's new ownership at Henry Fonda. With any type of new ownership comes remodeling, re-invention, etc, blahblahblah. Just means more opptions for the LA clubber

bro... I'm Hollywood Carter!!!!

Personally, I think it's gonna be pretty sick over there. Depending on the lineup, I would travel down for an event.

I played there a couple times on the Godskitchen/Spundae nights awhile back. The place has potential with the right promoters in there working it and packing it. I thought the JOOF night there was pretty bad ass. He ripped it... the best set I've ever seen him play.

How funny, my friend and I were just talking about Henry Fonda yesterday, how we loved the rooftop bar area when Godskitchen was throwing weekly parties at the venue, and how we want some new EDM event to start there again. I hope this is it! I heard the rumor about the remodeling and new promoter at least a year ago so maybe it's happening for real now.

I think Insomniac( Pasquel) is the new owner. This will be interesting to see. Either way it will be good for LA scene.
