A much bigger loss for Republikans than expected. Great to see the largest success in the Democratic Party's history.
You can follow it on most websites or they're having extensive coverage on cable news. I see the major networks largely paying attention to it but they should be paying more. |

First in New Jersey, then Virginia, and now again in Massachusetts. The symbolic middle finger of the people has officially been extended. In the bluest of blue states no less- which has a 3.5 to 1 advantage on Democrat voter registration, the current administration's radical far left agenda and expansionist dreams just had cold water blasted in its face. I called it last year: the Democrats WILL overreach and pay the price. People wanted change but not the kind we're getting.
What's worse IMO, is that the Democrats will still try to push healthcare through in some diabolical way, knowing a clear majority of the people don't want it (in its current form). The Americans who support our government passing legislation against the will of the people do not support our country as a representative republic or democracy, and have lost all credibility much as the current leaders in Washington have. The people have spoken; stop this radical Orwellian intrusiveness and get the out of our wallets and our lives. |

Radical far left? Seriously, which drugs are you on, they are barely liberal as it is, let alone far left.

But since republicans did all their best to kill the reform that people actually wanted you dont get to complain about this.

The last poll about health care that i was bothered to look (from about a month ago i think) at still showed that the majority of people support and want the health care reform.

You know, i recently reread 1984, a lot of time has passed since ive read it last and i just waned to refresh my memory of it since it comes up in health care arguments. The thing is nothing in there about helth care. Plenty about the government spying on its own people, legislating morality and sstarting meaningless wars. Plenty more connections to Orwell by the previous than the current administration.
In the end though this might be a good thing for the democrats, sort of a wake up call that they cant sit on their asses and just talk. Everybody was so sure that with a 60 vote majority dems will accomplish wonderful things but as it is they have proven themselves incompetent. Well time to wake up and smell the decomposing bodies of the 40000 people who die each year because they dont have insurance.
And if all else fails, there's still reconciliation. |

If the Democrats are far left, Europe must be a Stalinist utopia.

You're telling me.... that the people in charge right now are not far left? Nancy Pelosi is moderate? Harry Reid? Barack Obama with the most liberal voting record in the Senate? They are barely liberal? I suppose the Pope is barely Catholic too. Crazy. This country is center-right... which is precisely WHY their agenda is being rejected; it is too far to the left.

That isn't accurate at all. They tried to ram it through in the summer before anyone read it; even most of them admitted they didn't. And the more time that passed, the more details came out... and the more people didn't want it. It's not just Republicans that oppose it's substace... I mean, what do you think today's election in 3.5 to 1 Democrat Massachusetts was about?

It's been solid for 2 months... support for Obamacare across all polls are between 35-42% in favor, and 52-60+ against. And it's like that in every state. The people don't want it, and they (government) don't care.

I mean, Orwellian in the sense that they are omnipresent in all aspects of our lives. But legislating morality does come in to play; the healthcare issue is full of moral discussion.

This is true... but if they go that route, and pass it against the will of the people they are supposed to represent, they don't deserve to govern, and that will play out in November for certain. |
