There is a conference I am attending in March taking place at the hotel so i went ahead and booked to stay there since its on the company dime. I heard that some of the towers have rooms in better shape than the others and that the front desk staff WILL profile and end up sending you to a specific tower based on where they want to put you.

I'd rather not hang out in the lobby and see where they send all the middle aged white guys in suits to then check in and request i get sent up there as well, so figured I'd ask the TA's who recently stayed there...

of course this could be a moot point since GIANT might have booked up a block of room and they were all on the same floors in the same towers.

1) Book as a Starwood Preferred Guest. If you're not already a member, just Google it and join for free. I was amazed how this opened up things for me: shorter check-in line, they gave me a newly renovated room overlooking the pool on 25th floor and 2pm checkout!

2) Ask for a newly renovated room if one's available. I don't think you can go wrong other than that! The heavenly beds are, well, heavenly! It was an awesome place to stay...

Diamond (yellow) - I remember it well because there were hardly any lines for the elevator, was a little out of the way though. Oh, and there's a great Schezuan Chinese restaurant on the 6th floor, very reasonable prices. They get huge lunch crowds, but it's fairly quiet at dinner time.

Your view from the 25th floor:
