I just nabbed this off of the iTunes store and I thought some of you might want to hear about it.
The process of making a chord progression is simple enough. You start out with a chord and can edit it to your desire. You slide the chord to the side, and then find chords that will suit the progression. There will be a list of matches that will be ranked according to stars(I have no idea what they mean, I would guess popularity). You can also have prochords suggest to you a chord to is to be placed between two chords. You have the option of editing each chord, the bass note, and the inversions. Exporting your progression is simple. With an internet connection you upload it to the prochords server, and then they send it to your e-mail. Once you do it one time the program saves your e-mail.
I don't want to describe every little detail, but it's simple to use and well thought out. This is a fun bit of software to use.
The program was 6 bucks and you have to update your firmware to version 3 which is 5 dollars, so for myself it was 11 dollars total.
I have tried the VST Improviser and the functionality is similar. The biggest difference is that the VST Improviser takes less time to go from progression to midi idea and it's much more expensive.

| Might be fun to play with when you're traveling and have no access to your DAW, but aside from that you're much better off just learning a bit of music theory and understand what you're doing. |

| too bad it doesn't take care of voice leading giving a false sense of what chord succession will sound like. Pretty neat tho for a phone app. They should also include roman numerals for tonal successions as it just makes it easier to learn and associate a given progression with a mental conceptualization. |
