yeah, i miss tim and dennis mayhem days too :(
death of purple room was inevitable. EDM room inside a top40 club isn't going to go well. too commercial for more EDM types, too 'techno' for top40 types |
3rd floor Koi in Sizzle/Koi has been strictly electronic since they opened...going on 5 years this year. Smaller than purple room...but it's better than nothing. |

| I went there a few times in 2002-2004. I ran into so many TAs at the time, and didn't know it. |

It's crazy that this thread popped up, cuz lately, that's all I've been thinking about. Definitely the perfect example of a group of people (although I was kind of the "new guy" at its peak) making a concerted effort to show up and party together. Essentially it was like a private party in the spirit of it being open to the public and for sure the music was incredible.
So... seeing that I'm not the only one who thinks so, where is everyone now (compared to 05-07) and would you come back if we brought back the same scene to the PR? Obviously a couple of fresh faces DJ-wise, but given there is a small core of us who've been spinning for some time now ready to step up to the plate, how many people would show up for an event?
Thing is now it's (as many of you know) either reggae or house (not anywhere in the ballpark of trance). The house is very much up to snuff although I never see/recognize any TAs there and it's a new crowd with a different vibe (i.e. it used to be epic). Also, I don't think there is currently a slot for trance, but it's one of those situations where instead of - build it and they will come, it has to be, come ONCE, and then we can build it due to the obvious political situation.
Anyway, point is, even though there's no more Dennis/Tygon around I still see some of the usual suspects and I'm sure that we could get this back on track. Needs to be some solid support though.I had posted in that "too much tech/house" thread about there not being enough trance with "locals", and while I realize most of you aren't even talking about the trance part, it would be nice to have at least one night to have that or something similar or a combination (with different DJs/styles). Hopefully there are some positive responses so I can actually try to do something along the lines of getting something started (believe me...I'm very much on a mission to make this happen) and I know there are a couple of people who have pull at rev.
Cue the most cracked pic of me and the legendary Ro-bair:

We still try and tracklist along with Dan (as we did at glenn morrison)!
BTW, FunkyCrew, you're technically the first TA that Rob introduced me to. |

| I'd kill for an Aaron / Dennis / Tim triple-header. The thought alone gets the blood pumpin'! |

I've made my stance on revival of the purple room pretty clear... PR was my home club for way to long not to be all for a revival.
