2009 was a landmark year for Psycatron. A mainstay of the techno scene in Northern Ireland for the last seven years via residencies at the legendary Shine and latterly Stiff Kitten, Psycatron have broken out on to a global stage with a string of high profile releases on some of the world’s best respected labels including Carl Craig’s Guilty Pleasure off shoot label, the legendary R&S Records and the uber-underground Simple Records.
Originally released in June, Directions became an instant techno-anthem over the summer with its instantly memorable vocal hook and sprawling, crowd-pleaser breakdown. For this remix package Tronic have drafted in two of the hottest production names of 2009. Matt Nordstrom & Orlando Villegas (Saved Records) bring their familiar sparse futuristic vibes to the release with a tense percussive rework of epic proportions. Excentic Musik man and fellow Belfast boy, Fergie jumped at the chance to remix Psycatron. The result is an incendiary peak-time bomb that builds subtly via a shuffling off-kilter groove before unleashing the full vocal in the break.
