Well, a sandbox MMO when done well works a lot better than a sandbox singleplayer game.
It's so so much more satisfying to do crafting or some type of trading when it actually involves other players. With a lot of singleplayer RPGs it's just like, yeh... I could get more money, but so what? It's much more compelling to be doing 2% more dps then your corp/guildmate then just be doing 2% more dps.
Also, you haven't played world of warcraft, once you're level 17 you can level up just by doing dungeons, and pvp in it can be pretty fun at times. DND was and I've heard guild wars was pretty meh too. Also the combat in world of warcraft is actually pretty fun depending on class. Shamans you balance healing, mage dps and melee dps for instance (and various talents/abilities, hard to describe). Or priests, mages, warlocks etc (warriors or paladins are a pain in the ass solo though). |

black prophecy is the only MMO i will be installing in the forseeable future. possibly ever even. i dont like the MMORPG model. I knew that already, in the same way i know i dont like eating dog without having had too much experience with chewing it. its not because i haven't "tried the right piece of ", its that isn't included on my list of what i like to eat.
of course there are exceptions, and i think eve looks tremendously interesting and who knows what star wars will be like, but overall no thanks. Ill stick to my 1v1, SP, LAN & coop titles thanks. that's just how i roll. |

| No well fair enough, but there's certainly some good, well designed gameplay to be had in a select few MMOs. |

| Earthrise is the only MMO I'll probably play in the future and Anarchy Online is the only one I played in the past. I'm not really in my MMO phase anymore. I prefer games that require less time in my already busy schedule. |
