its all about the interaction of the bassline and the kick and also the bassline pattern imo

Really no kiddin? I tried this over and over with diff kicks and never got it right. I'll check out the tutorial thanks dude.

Drive is created by groove, shuffle, sound design, pumping effects. There's tons of ways to create drive...

Yeah, I've already been doing the tom before kick thing and my basslines always sounds good (to me at least). And my track will sound driving at that point, but the drive goes away when I bring in any synth elements. It tends to sound deeper than I want.

I think I'm just picking the wrong sounds or processing them the wrong way for the track. I guess this is just something that will come from practise and experience.

Thanks for the tips!

Bingo; thread over!

Everything needs to supplement everything else.

Just that the sum musical experience of a lot of people on here now seems to be listening to the top 40 and ultra commercial cheese trance that gets pumped out on certain internet radio stations and podcasts. Few people on here have the same musical goals as me any more, except maybe in music discussion. The number of truly stupid threads on here I see day to day is staggering.

Anyway, the answer to your question is syncopation and swing IMO.

If you're going to leave a forum because too many people on it like pop music, that is the stupidest fvcking thing I've ever heard, and I think the forums collective IQ would rise significantly if you did leave.
You don't judge a boards percieved intelligence on whatever genre of music you think they like. Thats like me thinking you'r dumb cause you like the color yellow, makes no logical sense at all.

People like music cause they like music, if you want to act like mr high and mighty then yes, please join n IDM.

Those hats made my ears bleed after about 9 seconds.

And I'm prob wrong but weren't you the person who made that thread about overcompressed music causing anxiety? If I'm wrong I apologize, if not, this track should have made you awfully anxious. :p
