| quote: | | May 10, 2010 - The LPGA today mourns the loss of LPGA Tour player Erica Blasberg, who has died. Details on her death are currently unavailable. Blasberg, a Southern California native, was in her sixth season on the LPGA Tour. A former junior golf standout, the 25-year-old was a two-time All-American from 2003-04, 2003 NCAA Freshman of the Year and 2003 Pac-10 Player of the Year while at University of Arizona. She turned professional in June of 2004 and won once on the Duramed FUTURES Tour before qualifying for the LPGA Tour in 2005. Her best year on Tour was 2008 when she earned a career-best tie for eighth at the SBS Open in Hawaii and over $113,000 in winnings. This season, Blasberg had played in one event, the Tres Marias Championship, where she tied for 44th. Statement from Erica Blasberg's agent, Chase Callahan of REP 1 Sports Group: We are devastated to learn of the passing of Erica Blasberg. To most of the world, Erica was known as a professional golfer, but she was more than that. She was a loving daughter to her parents and a compassionate and loyal friend. Erica had a good heart, was extremely kind and very thankful for what she had in her life. She lived out her dream of playing professional golf on the highest level on the LPGA Tour, allowing her to help inspire others. We are proud of Erica for everything she accomplished. This is a painful loss, we feel it in our hearts and we will miss her. Erica would want those close to her to celebrate the life she lived. We ask that you keep Erica and her family in your prayers. |

I heard about Erica's death...very sad indeed.
There is a lot of debate right now about whether Tiger or Hank was the driving force behind the split. I think Hank doesn't want to be apart of the mess that is tiger right now and I think tiger needs a change and changing his swing instructor might be a good idea. |

| I also heard Mike Weir leads the PGA with the lowest putts per round. How in the hell can he be playing so bad and still be putting the least. Obviously his driving and mid iron game must be crap. I'm sure his GIR stats are bad. |

been like that for couple months now I believe. It's cuz he misses a lot of greens.. 58% GIR. When I was keeping stats years ago, I had like 40% GIR but had 27 putts per round |

The U.S. Open is off and running at Pebble Beach. Of the four majors I find this one the least appealing for me. I just think the USGA makes the courses too difficult to play. I think even par should be the winning score at any major but this year they have the greens way too fast and they have narrowed the fairways to pretty much nothing.
As for predictions....I gotta go with Phil again....he has played great at Pebble Beach in the past and its his year to shine.
I would be surprised if tiger makes the cut....he is looking awful lately and he hits his driver like he drives his SUV.
Mike Weir......oh mike weir....if he starts hitting the ball straight again then I think he has a chance to contend but my gut tells me he won't be around on the weekend.
Ames....he will make the cut but will not be a factor.
Tom Watson....I say he has a chance at a top ten finish....he's the only player to play in every US Open held at Pebble Beach. |

wow...what a difference it makes playing in the morning compared to the afternoon.
Weir has once again proven he is the most inconsistent golfer on tour. |

Yeah but I sure love the way he plays golf. Unlike some golfers, he is willing to take risks and go for it...even if it costs him the tournament....he has a little Tin Cup in him.
The best part is, when they are talking about Phil it means they are not talking about Tiger...any time other golfers get the spotlight it is only good for the game of golf. |
